ABC Chart (b has been updated to bird and m to mug): This is a reference chart for writing with the Movable Alphabet. Keeping keywords (a is always with apple) for beginning sound word the same helps create consistency and aids in a child's memory of letters and sounds. If a child knows the need the sound /a/ but forget what it looks like when trying to find it in the Movable Alphabet, they can look for the keyword (apple) which has been ingrained into their minds and therefore they will find what the letter looks like.

Write the Word Scavenger Hunt: Print/laminate and cut small pictures. Hide them around your environment by sticking them to the walls or furniture using blue tac. Provide student sheets in a folder. Child can use a clipboard to clip one student sheet and grab a pencil. Child hunts around environment. When they come upon a picture, they'll note the number, find the correct slot, seeing how many letters they need, and write the word. Make sure the first lesson is sitting with the child and naming/sounding out all the words so that they know ahead of time what they are.

Command Cards and Objects Sets 1-3: Print/laminate and cut. Cut close around "objects" to best use. Keep sets separate, they get harder as they move up. Lay out all objects on top of the mat and name each object to child. Stack sentences in a pile and let child decode each sentence. They should make the objects do what the sentence is describing - line them up together and work your way through the sentences. All objects should be used in the end.

Sequence Stories: Included is the master book (colored pages with text) and blank student sheets. Can all be laminated and used as cards OR you can offer the student sheets on printed paper for them to cut, arrange and staple into a booklet. Lay out student picture cards in a line on the top of a work surface. Put sentences in a pile in front of child. Child reads sentences one at a time and matches to appropriate picture. The next step is to sequence the story in the order that makes the most sense. Child can use master to check their work.

Moveable Alphabet Sentence Prompts: Print/laminate and cut. Offer these in a basket next to the Movable Alphabet. Each day the child can use one to fuel their creative writing. Alternatively, a child can use many to create a paragraph.
